Today, the Congressional Progressive Caucus endorsed the Judiciary Act of 2021, which would restore balance to the Supreme Court by adding four seats to protect our most sacred rights from the right-wing supermajority appointed to the bench by Donald Trump.

People’s Parity Project is a proud partner of the Unrig the Courts coalition, which responded to news of the caucus’s endorsement:

“The Congressional Progressive Caucus’s endorsement of the Judiciary Act shows a growing understanding in Congress that restoring balance to the Supreme Court is imperative to protect our constitutional rights and freedoms from the Republican supermajority’s relentless pursuit of a far-right political agenda.

“We thank the CPC for their leadership in this fight. Now, we strongly urge all members of the caucus to demonstrate their support by becoming formal cosponsors of the Judiciary Act of 2021. It is imperative that every member of the CPC work to swiftly advance this legislation with as many cosponsors as possible to show that there is real and palpable momentum behind this democracy-saving proposal.

“For years, CPC members have been among the fiercest champions of the rights of marginalized people in our country. Now, it’s time for all CPC members to co-sponsor the Judiciary Act of 2021 to secure our constitutional rights and ensure that the Court fulfills its sacred responsibility to deliver equal justice under the law to all Americans.”
